Musky Rod/Swimbaits?

Featured Replies

Anyone see a problem using a musky rod for swimbaits on bass? I have a 7' MH that handles 3/4 - 3 oz. baits and 15-30 lb line. It seems like the same specs that a lot of dedicated swimbait rods?

Heck no, give it a shot.  Musky guys and gals have been slinging big baits long before swimbaits and bass were mentioned in the same sentence.  Musky baits are the original 'swimbaits.'

That's what I'm planning to do. I have an older bucktail rod I'm going to use.

It was built before the MONDO bucktails became popular.

bought my first dedicated swimbait rod this winter. It actually came from a musky shop. I got the St Croix LTM "downsizer". I liked the feel of that rod better than anything I picked up in a bass stick. Looks nice with the Revo Toro on it!
