Diawa Tournament SS

Featured Replies

What are opinions of the Diawa Tournament SS spinning reels vs. more current reels?

Leaving the question open to techniques to get more opinions.

They aren't using any kind of new technology. And on paper they are nothing special at all.

But IMO they are a good reel that is rock solid reliable.....I don't own any but have fished them before....They are nicer than I ever thought they would be.

At the time they came on the market they were top noch reels. Their drag is awsome, it's difficult to break because of it's simple engineering. Over all a solid reel.

On the other hand, technologicaly, they can't compare with today's reels (if I remember corectly they don't even have infinite anti-revers).

Daiwa still makes money on it... :(

I have one and been using it for the last 16 yrs believe it or not. I love it. Ok, so it not the most technologically advanced spinning reel in the market, but it hasnt broke of failed on me once. Sometimes less is more.

I want to buy one but for 80 bucks I can get new technology... buy my friends swears my them....

AWESOME drag.... never breaks...my only prob with it is that it does not have an anti reverse...

If it did, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
