I had just about settled on a Powell Max 6'8" MH until I held a Crucial today. Anybody know if there's much difference in the weight of these two rods? Still not really sure if I wanna shell out the dough for a Crucial or not.

I have the Crucial and love it.  but I am a little baised on the Shimano thing.

I have two Powell baitcasting rods and they are more than worth their price.  They are light, strong and sensitive.

That said, I have been pretty impressed just handling the Crucials while in various bait shops.

Both are really nice rods. You'll just have to figure out what type of action you prefer. The Powell will have a softer tip than the Shimano.

This topic has been on my mind...  Although my Crucial is very nice, it did not quite meet my admittedly high expectations in the sensitivity area.  With the flip flops in pricing, Powell & the Crucial are priced similarly.  I've been wondering if a Powell should be next on my to-try list.  

These blanks are very close in performance senstivity wise.  You really just need to grab one of each and see which one feels better in your hand.  I know that doesn't help much, but at least you can't go wrong with either.

Thanks for the info guys. I know these rods are close and it's probably more a matter of personal preference but I though I'd see what the board had to say. I picked up the Crucial today on ebay at a steal so I'll see how that works out as soon as this dang ice melts. Thanks again.
