It would be OK for drop shotting. But I prefer a longer rod. And one with a higher lure rating, and a moderate action

For shaky heads, I would want something with a lighter lure rating, starting at heaviest 1/16-1/4. This one would also be longer IMO, and have a considerably faster tip than a drop shot rod.

thanks any other thoughts.

I am getting a 6'9" for my drop shot rod, with a fast tip.

In my mind a fast tip won't work.

The rod needs to be rated at a higher lure rating than a shaky rod. I don't use less than 3/8 oz for drop shot weights. And in big water with higher winds I'll go higher.

A rod rated for those lure weights needs to have a slower action to protect the line. A longer rod with the same slower action will protect the line even more.

The only time I would fish a lighter d/s weight would be for shallow D/Sing less than 10 feet. Which I don't do anyways.
