Rod sizes/action and reel ratio help

Featured Replies

Alright guys. Im wondering about what y'all use to cover all techniques in 3 set ups. Not looking for brands I just want to know 3 setups (rod size/action and reel ratio) that all you baitcastin guys use. I have 2 good baitcasters in the 6.4 range and am lookin at buyin one in the 5.0 range. What size and action rods should I pair these with and what methods and techniques suite each ones?

Thanks

If you are looking in the 5.0 range then I assume you are looking for a crankbait setup. I prefer a shorter 6'6 medium power,moderate/fast action rod for shallow to medium running cranks and a 7' medium/heavy power, moderate/fast action for deeper stuff. For the other reels I would get two good 6'6 and 7' ft rods. One medium and one medium heavy. For all around rods I would get both with fast action. X-fast if you will use it for plastics/jigs.
