Critique My Gear

Featured Replies

Alright, I am sort of looking for opinions of what to use for what.

Rods

Casting:

St. Croix Avid 6'6 MH

Quantum Tour Edition 7'4 HVY Extra fast

Cabelas Fish Eagle XML 7' Heavy fast

Shimano Cumara 7'2 MH

Shimano Cumara 7'2 M fast

Spinning:

St. Croix Avid 7' Med fast

Reels

Casting:

Abu Garcia Revo S

Abu Garcia Winch

Shimano Citica

Shimano Chronarch 51mg

Pfleuger Trion (sp)

Spinning:

Quantum Catalyst (old model)

Shimano Stradic (White one)

Combo's I have and what I use them for...

Quantum Tour Edition-Revo S-Frog

St. Croix Avid-Winch-cranking (Shallow to deep cranks)

Cumara M-Chronarch-Weightless and lightweight

Cumara MH-Citica- pitching/jigs/trigged

Cabelas XML- ????-????

Avid 7' M fast-Stradic-Jerkbaits/topwater

?????-Catalyst-????

I am thinking about getting a rod for dropshot to pair with the catalyst. I also was thinking along the lines of using the Quantum rod for pitching and using the XML rod for frogs. The quantum stick is big and sort of tough to work frogs. Any opinions/advice welcome!!!!!!!!!

I should just throw the trion on the 7'2 cumara MH and put the citica which is a little more beefy on the XML.

one thing i would mention is learn to stick with one or two companys. the reason is, is that youll know and learn the feel of them for instance i only use shimano reels, curado's citica's and symetre's for spinning. i know them all like the back of my hand now that ive pulled them apart and cleaned and inspected then throughly. and with rods you really need to get used to rods, it will highly increase your catch ration. i like castaways and american rodsmiths.
