Curado 100d vs Citica E

Featured Replies

I want something with a slightly slower gear ratio than my 7:1 Curados.

Which of these two reel would you recommend?

The Citica E hands down.  The main reason I say that is because the 100D does not have HEG(High Efficiency Gearing) like the Citica 200E does.

X2. Not only that, the thing to get to the brakes needs to be turned as much as the old greenie! This shocked me with my 101D.  Aside from that mini peeve, the 101D is a fantastic reel, but the Citica E IMHO is the better choice.

The 100D was the best of the D series reels - and a very nice one at that, but my choice between the two would still be the Citica E... I like the frame design and the HEG is also great!

you may want to consider simply swapping out the gear set from one of your 7:1 curados for a 6:1 gear set from a citica E. the gears between the two are interchangeable and it is super easy to do. the part numbers are BTN3951 and BTN3953 and will run you $25 to $35, depending on where you buy them at.

now, between the curado 100d and the citica E, i'd vote for the citica E. the 100-size was my favorite in the D-series but the citica E sits much lower in the reel seat and is much for comfortable on my hands. another plus for the citica E is that you can swap gear sets between the two and end up with a 6:1 curado and a 7:1 citica.

Thanks gents.  I think I'm going to try to swap gears.

If anyone wants to get rid of one of those crappy 100D's let me know!

Unless one weighs more than the other, its the same reel. Wait I forgot the bearing count.

I have the Citica E and it is a great reel. I have it and a Curado 200 E7 as I wanted more line capacity than is available on my 50 MG's. Thereby maintaining a greater amount of line retrieved per handle turn after a long cast. Makes a big difference when one comes close to clearing all the line off the spool of a 50 MG on a long cast.

If you are interested in casting light lures the 100D would be superior as the spool empty weighs just 0.3 grams more than the 50 mg spool.

Because the line capacity of the 100 D is less than the Citica E the total spool weight when filled with mono is significantly less--18 grams versus 25 grams using 14# Original Stren
