I am looking to buy a new symetre spinning reel. I looked on ebay and noticed that the FI series is about $40 cheaper, is that last years model?

Have any of you tried both or have any understanding on whether there is a different between the two? Thanks

    Yes , last years model(08). FI

    The lip of the spool is differant on the 09 model.

    Also should i just upgrade to a Saros?

    shimano added their "propulsion line management system" starting with the FJ-series. i think it's a huge upgrade and worth the extra dollars. unfortunately, shimano also stopped including spare spools with their 2009 and newer reels  :'(

    I have the saros and love it. Got it for $100 on ebay. Not sure what you can get the symetry for.

    Not only does it come with Propulsion System now it also comes with a much improved one piece bail design.  Much more improved over last years model.

    If you can swing the extra $30 the Saros is the way to go.  It comes with the spare spool.

    Either reel will be awesome.
