Okuma swimbait rod question

Featured Replies

After doing more research i decided the heartland wasn't the best choice. Now I'm just going to get an okuma. I'm wanting to throw matlures hard gill, maybe hard bass eventually, tru tungsten 7" gill, mattlures baby bass, ultimate bluegill. Really the heaviest thing i'd want to throw is the hard bass at like 4 something i think? I think the best route is the 7'11" so i can throw the mattlures soft baits as well as the heavier hard baits. Should i get the telescopic one? Does telescopic mean it can get smaller or bigger?

Thanks guys.

that looks like a pretty stout rod. I have never used one, but for $100 bucks, it looks legit.

I would go for the 7'11, it has the suggested weight up to 10 oz as opposed to 8. I don't know of any 10 oz swimbaits, but then again, I never throw any.

Solid find, sir.

I've been after the 7'6 heavy for 2 years now....I just can't fit swimbaits in my budget.

I believe it was fourbizz who recommended these rods to me.

Okuma 7'6" XH

Ive owned quite a few others, and have fished most of what is available off the rack.

7'6 mh? or 7'11 mh? I don't think the 7'11 would work if i wanted to eventually get the hard bass but that's the highest i'd go.

I've got the 7'6" MH and I love it, I've thrown the Mattlures Hard bluegill and many other large baits up to 4oz, but this baby has backbones for at least 5 or 6oz. Definitely worth the money, if you want to save a couple bucks, wait till the next holiday, TW normally has a 10 - 15% off during holiday weekends!

I would get the 7'6", but then again, I really do not like any of the 7'11" Okumas.
