these look pretty standard and i was thinking of getting a green threadin shad since it is reasonably priced and i could throw it on my current gear and it seems like it would work on my lakes.

how are these baits? what about the tails. how durable are they? where can i get replacement tails for it? i didnt see them on ***, but i may have overlooked them.

I had the baby crappie one for awhile.

It ran straight and I caught a few bass with it, nothing huge.

The tail got torn up (it was pretty durable) and I just never got around to replacing it.

It was a decent lure, I just never fished it that much.

i personally dont like it  it has a fixed depth and with a hard head it should have more detail  i like the slurpies or something like that baby crappie swimbait  its probably not as durable but u have more freedom with the bait  u may let it sink deeper or reel it in right under the surface and the swimming tail makes a nice wake

everyone here pretty much agrees that storm swimbats are pretty bad. i have tried several of their lures and the only ones that i liked and will buy again are the kickin minnow. i am gonna have to pick a few up on sunday when i go to BPS. the rest of their stuff is junk.

looks like i wont get that castaic shad then...

I have a few of the hardhead swimbait and none of them ever swam straight. They sucked. The kickin shad on the other hand is great. I had several good days with one last spring.

I wouldn't go so far as to say they are a waste of money. While they are sort of "old technology" they never stopped working. In the past I've done great with them. Matter of fact, I won a tourney on the shad a few years ago at Lake Don Pedro. In addtion to that I've caught and seen fish caught in the 5-7 lb range very often and I have a friend who stuck a 15+ on one.

There is a lot of good stuff out there these days but I still carry a lot of these in my box for very specific conditions and I do still throw them when the time is right.
