Football Jigs

Featured Replies

Hey, I fish this long river that holds alot of small bass 80% of these bass are 1lbers or smaller and they go crazy for small Jigs. But I love to have fun and catch them because you can usually catch 12-16 a trip. Anyways the bottom of this river is all big/small rocks with an occasional sunken stickpile. Ive been fishing it with flipping jigs but they seem to get caught up in the rocks alot and I lose a decent amount of Jigs. Ive heard Football Head Jigs don't get caught up in the rocks as easily but Im looking for small ones, particularly light also. The only problem is every Football Jig I look at is 1/4ounce+, do you guys know where I can find Football Jigs lighter then this? Anything from 1/16ounce - 5/16 ounce would be good. Any websites you know of, or any products you know of that are this light and are Football Jigs?

Sorry man, the only football jigs I've found go down to 3/8oz. I use a 1/2oz football jig and I kill with it. Excellent choice.

There are some 1/4oz ones on *** and another site.com.

And Picasso makes some 1/16, 1/8, and 3/16oz football jigheads, but thats all that I can think of.

Dirty Jigs Tackle doesn't make any smaller than 1/4 oz. but if you decide that will do I can assure you that you'll never find better color combos ANYWHERE! Also, he's got a finesse jig on a ball head that is 3/16, but that's the lightest they go. If you settle on that 1/4 oz jig, go with the toad jig as they've got a killer little hook in them!

I would definitely check out Tackle Warehouse.

Here's a couple 1/4 oz jigs I found there:

I'd go with the Skinny Bear jig.

The Dirty Jigs Tackle jigs are really nice, but currently they don't come in rubber, which is my preference. I contacted them and there's a possibility they may make rubber an option in the next couple of months.

When did you talk to them? Curt and I had a long talk about him making a rubber jig and its happening. He's sending me some. Definetely get in contact with him again. The rubber jigs will be offered in the "toad jig" first. Its like a skinny bear/bass patrol on steroids, the quality is unmatched!

Skinny Bear for all football jigs. I use these in all colors. They dont hang up at all and have a rubber skirt and Owner Deep Throat hook.

The worst thing about these jigs is its so hard to find a small enough trailor!  Thats a pretty good problem to have after hearing your problem.

Karu Lures, one of BR's sponsors makes some that look pretty good. I just ordered some of the finesse football jigs, they sound like what you're looking for.

fluke, I have some jigs that are very similar to those and they are awesome.

Those dirtyjigs look great! I might have to try them out.
