I'm looking for a rod that has some back bone to it but not too much because I want throw cranks and other treble hooked lures also.  I'm thinking of a MH 6'6"-7' casting rod with a moderately fast tip. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Pitching and cranking are polar opposites. You would be much better off getting two seperate rods for those two techniques. As for the pitching rod I think a Vendetta 7'3" HXF is a great rod for pitching jigs and plastics.

Fat-G, Have you been fishing the Vendetta? I am going to buy a new rod for jigs and I was wondering about the feel and sen. of this rod. What other rod would you compare it to?

well its not so much that I want to pitch heavy baits like jigs but things like worms and lighter baits and I wanted a softer tip to cast further.  Also if I could use that rod for treble hooked baits as well that would be nice.  I have a MH rod already but the tip is stiff and it doesnt pitch lighter baits very far.  I think a softer tip would be able to load easier which would increase my pitching distance and if I wanted to use treble hooked lures would give a bass the time to take a lure in without me ripping it out of his mouth.

dont know if youve seen it or not but st,croix mojo has a 7ft6" pitchin rod with moderate fast action ,,,,,,it has the backbone you need and the flex ,,,,also look at falcon lowrider rods their hevy rods have lots of flex imo.......i bought the kistler carbon steel casting rod 7ft mh 12-25  1/4 to 1 and its been good for pitching jiga,,,,and ive used it for liplees cranks with no trouble as well

The Mojo's are like fishing with broom handles. Go with the Vendetta or go find a used Powell or Kistler.

I have been fishing a Vendetta 6'9" medium heavy, fast taper for a few trips at the end of last season and it handles extremely well with great sensitivity.

Powell 684 CB. Very fast action for a crankbait rod - can easily pitch light jig and t-rigs. Great all-around length and all-around action.

well i gotta 7 mh falcon original and its made for deep crankin but i use it fer t-riggin and flippin small creature baits with a 1/4 ounce weight. great rod. academy has em rite now fer 69$ and there normally 89$
