Need ultralight baitcasting rod suggestions.

Doing some advance research. Looking for one of those $100 price range rods for a new (to me) Alphas reel that should be arriving by next weekend. Haven't done any research yet, but will be looking at the Compre, Excel and Bucoo models. Hopefully they carry an ultralight casting rod in these rod lines.

not in your price range , but take a look at the Cumara reaction series 7'6'' ML rod , rated for 1/8-1/2 oz. lures , that would be a sweet set up !!!!!  ;)

What type of baits are you fishing?

Planning on using it for panfishing.  Mostly very small Roostertails, and Beetlespins with curly tail grubs.  My understanding is that trout are stocked where I want to take my grandsons fishing.  No idea what lures to use on trout.

Thanks for the link Lots of choices there. Some even in my price range! ;D

Wish the Excel was a different color. Never seen one in person, but they look ugly in the pictures. I know looks counts for nothing, but it doesn't hurt to like the looks of the rod you are using! I've got another hobby where one of my items is on the homely side, but performance is the major deciding factor for me.  I'll take function over form anytime.   ;D

i think your best choice would be the Phenix 7'6'' med. lite . that rod has an extra fast tip that will fling rooster tails and small Kastmasters a long ways and would work very good with  an Alpha spooled with 4-6 lb. line  ;)

I looked up Phenix rods on their website having been impressed by reviews done by TackleTour of a couple Phenix models. The X12 Composite is the only 7'6" rod I saw. It is listed for 8-20 lb. line. Both the Ultra MBX and Ultra MBX Classic offer 7'7" ML rods rated for 6-14 lb. line. Were you referring to one of these models, or an older model no longer offered? The X9 was the least expensive at $199 which is more than my budget would allow.

Like I said, I am doing a little research in advance. Just purchased the Fenwick Techna and another Fuego L this weekend which leaves me penniless. :'( However, an ultralight is the next rod on my wish list to purchase.
