Easy way to transfer line from one reel to another?

Featured Replies

I was wondering if there is an easy way to transfer line from one reel to another.  I have some Inviszx Flouro on a spinning outfit but I don't like all the line twists that I get so I am thinking of switching to braid.  With that being said, Inviszx is good stuff and I think I am going to use it on a baitcaster.  Any tips on switching it out?  Just trying to avoid spending another $15 on a spool of Inviszx.

I do that from time to time. I have a 100 ft driveway and just set up a "pylon" at each end - tie off the line on one pylon, walk out the line around the two pylons until all the line is off - then tie the end of the line to the new reel and crank it in.

I would just take the spinning reel spool off and feed the line onto your baitcaster, set the spinning spool on the floor or wherever and crank it onto the baitcaster like you would if the line was on the regular line spool.

Why do you need to take it off the reel before you put it on another? ;D Just tie it to the other spool and GET-R-DUN!

Nice, it's early on a Sun morning and I was wondering if the line coming of the spinning reel would be put on backwards on the baitcaster.   Cool, I am going to spool this directly onto my baitcaster.  Thanks for the help.

Because of the smaller coils on the line that is at the bottom of the spool, and some compression effects on the line. Just seems better to put the line on the bottom of the first spool on the bottom of the second spool - especially with flouro. Now, if we were talking braid, then putting the top/used section of the line on the bottom of the second reel would be the way to go...
