anyone tried the Mop Jig by Buckeye lures or other round rubber?

Featured Replies

Saw some at Boaters' World the other day. they look to be well made- long round rubber, hand-tied, with a good hook.

Just curious if anyone has used them.

Also, any hardcore jig fishermen out there, do you like round rubber over silicone? What brand of round rubber jig do you like?

yea i like the mop jig   i fish alot of jigs mostly booyah and bitsy bug  booyah out deep, bitsy bug for skipping docks  and then the mop jig for fishing heavy timber, and pretty much any visible structure shallow   they work great for really small creek channels and ditches as well   any jig will work for small creek channels and ditches but the mop will pull out some nice bass

I have not tired them either, but I got very interested in them when I saw Charlie Ingram and Davy Hite fish a cold front with  a Mop.  Holy Cow, those were some good looking LARGE fish they pulled in.

Hite said they were especially designed for fishing slowly with subtle action, and for cold or slow conditions.  Apparently they are not designed for production (catching a limit) fishing, but rather are designed for the big mammas.

The jigs i have tied on 95% of the time are Skinny Bear Jigs.  Round Rubber, strong and sharp hook, hand tied, and in a variety of weights. You can also buy them on tackle warehouse!
