Hello everyone,

I am newly registered to the website; however, I have been here several times in the past.

I have just a couple of small questions for everyone, if you don't mind!

I have recently come into possession of my grandfather's fishing equipment. I recognize everything he has, and tossed all that no longer works. I have run across a rod/reel that I am not familiar with, though.

The rod is a Cabela's Tourney Trail IM7 5'6" casting rod, 10-20lb line weight, 3/8 - 3/4 lure weight. It is an INCREDIBLY stout rod. It seems like it is an older model since Cabela's no longer carries a rod of these specs. Can anyone give any information on this rod?

The reel is:

Shimano Bantam

B-Mag 2000II

2-Speed 5.2:1 and 3.8:1

2 Ball Bearing

Magnetic Control

What I want to know is: Is this reel worth hanging on to? Reel technology changes every year, and this reel seems old.  Second, is the rod/reel setup a good pairing? Lastly, does anyone know what this reel would have retailed for?

Well To get a rod under 6 Ft is like a Custom kob nowadays lol, I wouldn't worry about that.

I have a Shimano Bantam Curado I think it is a B5 200 or something and it still works GREAT very smooth. I would hang on to it for no other reason than a Collector if you don't want to use it.

hmmm, i think i had one of those mag bantams. black graphite body AND spool, IIRC. about $50-$55 new back in the early 1990s and probably worth about $20 or so today.
