which rod

My wife was feeling generous over the weekend and is allowing me to buy a new rod/reel combo this Friday. She wants to order me the Revo S/BPS carbon lite combo from bps. I was thinking same reel but paired with a Veritas or Vendetta. I'm thinking I'm gonna get a MHF rod for jigging and fishing the thick stuff.

I don't own either of the two, but the Veritas feels like a better rod to me. Depending on cover, I would suggest the 7'3 Mh.

If she'll let you spend a bit more, I'd go with the STX over the S.  The Vendettas are great rods, I love mine.  I've heard that the Veritas is a bit lighter and a little more sensitive, but also more tip heavy and a bit stiffer than similar Vendetta rods.  Spend a little more and get the Verdict, it's lighter, more sensitive and has higher grade guides and rings.

I'm pushing my luck with getting the revo s. i would LOVE a stx but shes at her limit with a 200 dollar combo the main reason shes allowing me to get it is the mail in rebates abu garcia has going on. originally it was a orra sx and a tec spec from dicks she bumped it to a revo s and carbon lite or veritas cuz the orra sx had allot of bad reviews about the anti reverse bearing.

I would look at the Veritas rod, 7' 3" MH/F rod and would look at going up to the Revo SX.  If that is not possible then I would look at the BPS Carbonlite, Pro Qualifier or the Shimano Citica.

I've compared the Veritas to the Carbonlite three times now (7'MF casting, 7' MHF casting, and 6'6" MHF spinning), and walked out with a Carbonlite each time. The Veritas may actually be a better rod, but it certainly didn't look or feel that way when I compared them side-by-side. I would strongly suggest holding each in your hands before ordering...especially if you're considering the Carbonlite with micros. It makes the comparable Veritas feel like a brick.
