Looking for a Shimano Scorpion 1501 XT

Featured Replies

Im new to the area, and wondering if anyone has a Shimano Scorpion reel for sale. Ill need a left handed one (1501).  Ive only seen them on ebay or online japanese tackle stores. I thought id try here first. Thanks

Japantackle is probably your best bet. What makes the 1501 attractive over say a 51E?

I ask because I also looked at that reel when searching for a new setup. :D

Oh and ask in the flea market forum... You'll need to specify a price range as well.

You got a point here... before the 51e came out, the 1501 came with the 6.3:1 gearing (which could be solved by swapping the citica gears)... but now, they should be around the same with the 51E being easier to palm and lighter as well

the 51 is an awesome reel, santa bought me one this year haha. the scorpion xt is about the same size, has better bearings, and has a 200 series sized spool. the reviews ive read say its better for lighter line and baits. and the maroon color will look good on my new dobyns rod. i figured it would be a long shot if someone had one of these for sale. thanks

I don't know where your source comes from, but the difference between the Curado 201E7 and the Scorpion 1501XT is only:

1. Color

2. Gear Ratio

3. Grips

the Scorpion 1501 XT does not have better bearings... and in terms of physical size, the 1501 XT is identical to the 201E7 as opposed to the smaller 51E

go to tackle tour and read their review on the Scorpion 1501 XT... unfortunately I'm still not able to post a link, but a simple google search should bring it up

If you want a Shimano that can handle light baits you should be looking for a Calcutta Conquest 51 or 51S.

Otherwise you're better off going with a Daiwa Alphas Ito or Pixy.
