Busch Wildlife muskie/striped bass

I have not fished for either of those species at Busch Wildlife. The only lake Musky are stocked in is lake 35. Here is a quote on fishing prospects for Musky at Busch Wildlife directly from the Missouri Department of Conservation Website:

"Muskies in the 20-40 inch size range are occasionally caught at Lake 35 with 60% of the spring sample larger than 36 legal length. Large rattle traps have been most productive. The size limit is 36 inches for muskies- please practice catch-and-release for these trophies."

This information may be a little dated as MDC doesn't always seem to keep as up-to-date info as they probably should. Also be aware that lake 35 is LOW...and I mean dangerously LOW. There have been reports elsewhere on this board regarding news of a small hole in the dam combined with the lack of rain as the culprit for the low lake level. Not sure how badly this will effect the musky population.

Also, here is a link that is featured on the Missouri Department of Conservations website regarding Musky in MO lakes:

As far as striped bass go, I wasn't able to find any onfo on them, but if memory serves me, I believe they are located in the larger lakes: 33, 35, and maybe 34. Not too sure about them though. Hope some of this info helps.

Oh, and welcome to the boards.

I wasn't aware that there were striped bass at busch.  If my memory serves me correct the muskey were last stocked in 2001.  I don't know if they put all males or all females in the lake though.  Its one of the bigger lakes but it is still a pretty small lake to support a ton of muskey.

How has the trout fishing been?

I'm not really sure any of those lakes at Busch would be suitable for a fish like a striped bass.  Those are big water fish that normally require more deep water than is available at virtually any Busch lake.

Maybe I am thinking of hybrid striped bass then. I remember at one time the card that outlined what species were available in each lake had either striper or hybrid striper on it. I can't remember which...or maybe I am just going crazy. :(

You are a tougher man that I F@bio. Temps this weekend are supposed to be 20 for the high on Saturday and 9 for the low. Gonna be a balmy 11 degrees tonight. That's some C-O-L-D fishing right there. Good luck!
