Any Pomme de Terre Lake fishing tips?

Featured Replies

My wife and I are going to be camping and fishing at Pomme de Terre Lake in Missouri the first week of June and was was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on locations that have been productive for them in the past.  We will be at the Hermitage State Park area.

I have not fished there yet, but my brothers have.  He nearly caught a large Muskie but lost it at the side of the boat because the net was too small.  I will talk to him and see if I can give you any info.  I plan on fishing there soon (early spring) to see if we can catch some nicebass.

Thanks Quinn....whatever info you can find out from your brother would be great....I really appreciate that.  I look forward to hearing back from you.

Pomme is a good crappie lake. Jigs, minnows. Ask around local bait sellers, they generally know & share info.

Muskies are there, you could get a surprise fishing for bass. Or you could throw some huge bucktail spinners or jerk baits and see what happens. Need heavy tackle and line to throw those boys.

Good bass fishing. General selection of baits work, spinnerbaits, jig & frog, soft plastics, drop shot rig, carolina rig.

Talk to as many locals as you can.

ENJOY! And good luck!    :(

I talked to my brother and he said he goes through Nemo on route NN and fished near that boat ramp.

And ditto the last post as far as the fishing conditions.

Sorry not much help, good Luck !!

Thanks Quinn....I know where you're talking about in regard to Nemo...and I'm assuming it's the boat ramp there in Nemo Park.

First week of June should offer some good early topwater action, and if the lake is a bit high and has some buck brush in the water, that will make the topwater bite even better. Later on in the day, it's better to locate brush piles in 10 - 25 feet of water. Fish plastic worms or jigs in the brush. Most of these are put out by the Corps and the lower lake where you are staying has plenty. On the weekend, though, the lake will get pretty crowded, so get your fishing done early or at night. It's a pretty little lake, but I'm not up-to-date on food (restaurants) around the lake.

I have a tourney there in April. I'll let you know how it goes. I also have a night tourney in July.... As for restraunts, their is one that is absolutely CRAP, but their is another that is AMAZING....so it's just a gamble where you go.
