new minnesota rules

Featured Replies

hey everyone. I am brand new to the forum, and relatively new to fishing with a spinning rod. I am mostly a fly fisher. I live in Iowa, but my inlaws live in Melrose MN, near st. cloud. anyway, I was goin over the new rules for 08, and noticed that the DNR says you no longer can sort or "cull" your fish. if it touches the live well, it is yours to keep. anyone know what the reason for this is?

also, a little un related. but I am gonna be up there next week to put a new motor on a boat, and was looking to fish, I hear rock bass, crappies and sunnys are always an open season, anyone know if they might be bitin?

I think the lakes might still have a little ice on them.  I know for sure there is snow still on the ground.

I just made it to melrose today, put the new boat motor on the lund, and am going out to break in the engine right now. no ice on the lake, no snow on the ground. but we will see if I can get a crappie to hit. I am gonna try it them with a fly rig.

kinda windy though, should be for an interesting boat ride. :)
