hawgchaser Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Greers is my home lake but I have not even fished it bc of the water level and then my boat was stolen. However, the reports I have heard are that the bass are still in the far back of the coves in brush. Spinnerbaits, stickbaits, and floating worms are catching them. I have been fishing greers since I was 6(now 32) and when the water gets really high, I always find the bigger fish a little deeper on c rig lizards. I prefer watermellon or green pumpkin. Usually they are in 12-15ft off of points where the stained water begins to clear. Rocky points are the best. Also spend a lot of time throwing a jig head worm. Good luck and let me know how it goes. I won't be out there until memorial day weekend. Quote
chasescott Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Hawgchaser, thanks for the info. I fished all day saturday and did pretty well. I probably caught 20 nice bass. i caught the majority on a white senko rigged wacky style. I also caught a few on a spinnerbait, one on a shakey head and i caught a smallmouth on a swim jig. All the fish i caught were in the trees anywhere from 1-10ft deep. All fish were caught up in middle fork and devils fork. I had to get off the water at about 1pm because of the storms but all in all it was a good day. -chase Quote
hawgchaser Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 sound like a great day. Has the water cleared up or was it still pretty stained? Quote
chasescott Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 Hawg, the main lake is still pretty stained, but the farther you go up the creeks it tends to clear up. However, i talked to someone who caught a lot of bass in the stained main part of the lake. Quote
hawgchaser Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Greers was pretty good this weekend. I was fishing around Sugar Loaf Marina. The fish were suspended in the flooded treetops, which there is plenty of! Anyway, we caught most of them on olive x raps. I did find another pattern the last hour of fishing. I was banging a deepdiving crank bait off the trees and having pretty good success. Quote
