Hi Guys, I'm new here, just got into fishing heavily a few months ago and I'm loving every minute of it thus far..well every minute of it that I'm not picking backlashes, but thats getting less and less.  Anyways, I'm a 21 year old student living and attending college in Monroe Louisiana.

     I just acquired a 12ft jon boat so I'll be able to get into some water by myself soon, and I was just wondering if anyone had any information on the waters around here, more specifically Bayou Desiard because thats no further than 2 minutes from my house and if I could get on the fish there, that would just make my day.  Thanks for all the help guys, this forum has taught me tons just by lurking and reading articles!

Welcome to the forum. As you've already found, it's a great resource for fishing information. However, there will be times when you will ask a question that you will only get one or two responses to. Sometimes you won't get any. All that means is that no one who read your post has an answer for you.

You might want to introduce yourself on the "General Bass Fishing Forum" list as that is where most list members look for those introducing themselves.

When you get a backlash there are some fundamental reasons why.

Please check out the Reel Mechanic's posts in the rod and reel section as he discusses how to stop backlashes.
