Quinn
There is a neat little lake north east of Grand Pass MO called Fish Lake. Someone told me about it and I wanted to check it out. I got there and there is no Missouri department of conservation signs (fish limits, boating reg's etc). It is along side of a county road, but there are fields on the other side, no fences, signs of any kind saying it is private property. How can I know if this is open to the public to fish? The town is so small there is not any businesses that I can go to to ask and I don't want to knock on doors in the area to find out. I'm not sure if it is part of the Grand Pass wildlife refuge. Super User cart7t Posted November 30, 2008 Super User Share Posted November 30, 2008 The state of Missouri has 3 methods to mark off private property. Fences, of course. No Trespassing signs. Marking any tree or post with purple paint. See any of those and it's off limits without permission. If you don't see anything I'd go ahead and fish away. Without markings of any kind you definitely have a good excuse if you say "I didn't know, it wasn't marked."
Quinn
Thanks, I have seen the purple paint and didn't know that was off limits. I assume that information is in the Wildlife code book. I only read the fishing.
