Places to stay on Table Rock Lake

Featured Replies

Looking for info re Table Rock lake planning on spending a few weeks fishing there in 2009. I would like to get information about fishing lodges on the lake with boat slips and clean rooms. Oh and at a reasonable price. Thanks for any help. ::)

There are a ton of resorts on that lake that vary in price from the uber "Big Cedar lodge" right down to the old Mom and Pop joints. Just know that prices are generally higher the closer you are to the dam due to it's proximity to Branson and Silver Dollar city. Probably the best arm of the lake to fish is the James River arm though it does tend to get the most fishing pressure. You can find some better bargains up around the Shell Knob area.

Leave your Florida gear behind. This lake has become drop shot city over the years. It's pretty much finesse gear much of the year except in the spring.  Also, don't forget the great Smallmouth fishing this lake offers.  You're best chances for smallies are from Campbell Point Boat dock down to the dam.  Some of the best is between Indian point and Kimberling City.   If you're going to be spending that that much time on the lake I'd definitely suggest getting a guide for a day to help familiarize yourself with the lake and fishing methods and seasonal patterns. It can be a really tough lake for first timers.

Hi cart7t, thanks for responding to my request for help. By any chance do you know of a resort that I stayed in years ago named Idlewild I think it was west and south of Branson but can't remember now for sure. I would like to stay their if I could find the place it may not have the same name now as it was for sale the last time I stayed there. Any way thanks tight lines

The name rings a bell but I just can't place it.  If you haven't been to Table Rock in awhile it's changed quite a bit.  What was once a fairly unused lake mostly utilized by fishermen has become quite a popular playground for people of all interests.  That means increased boat traffic, more expensive lodging and the old feel of being on a rather un-commercialized lake is gone.

Hey Basschaser, when my buddies and I take our annual spring fishing trip to TRL we stay at a place called Boomerang Resort. It's on the opposite end of the spectrum from Big Cedar Lodge... inexpensive, very plain, etc... but if you are on a tight budget, it's worth looking into. This year we will be there 5/13-17.

Very close to Indian Point, and thus not too far from the Dam.

Good luck!

Tom

Not to knock on ya srv...but I stayed at Boomerang once, and it'll be my last time. The cabins were alright, but one of them had a sewage leak underneath it and it stunk up the whole place. I don't know, just not my cup of tea. I recommend going to the Crest Lodge.

I would also add not to stay at the Kimberling Inn.  It sits right on the North side of the bridge in Kimberling City.  The place was alright as far as the rooms, prices, dock, boat ramp, etc.  The wife and I had a second honeymoon of sorts there about 10 years ago.  chose the lake front with the jacuzzi.

The well water stunk of Sulfer so bad it completely ruined the jacuzzi experience.  We had to get bottled water to brush our teeth because of the smell of the water out of the tap.  Taking a shower was a stinky experience.

Yeechhh!!

Understood Bass XL... as I said, it's very low end as far as resorts go. In fact, we experienced a broken water main a couple years ago, took them about a day to get it repaired. We weren't too happy about it, but it's funny what a few Bud's and a shot or two of Jim Beam will do for ya ;-) We're a bunch of guys who are there to fish, do some grilling and have a clean place to sleep... on as little $$$ as possible, so it's suited us pretty well, thus far. Now, if I were going with my wife and/or kids, that would be a different story.
