I am going to become the youngest snow bird in history. Due to some injuries sustained on active duty, I'm now very sensitive to the weather and the cold. I'm looking for somewhere to go in the winter, from around Nov to Mar. Ideally the place I choose would have warm weather, high barometric pressure at least 31, low humidity, and good places to fish. I live in WV and would like to stay with in a two day drive anyway. Can anyone give some advice?

Nobody in Texas got an suggestions, or do you just despise snowbird that much  >    BTW I'm not your normal snowbird, not rich, not snotty and raised in the south!!!

Floriday and Georgia come to mind.  Texas can be cold in Nov-Jan.

And he left us out with the low humidity request. Ours hovers around the 90% mark most of the time. Wait until he trys out our 31* with 30-40 mph winds. He might change his mind. Nothing between us and Colorado to slow down those winds.

I was thinking more around the Austin area, southern Texas.  I know how cold it gets in central Texas and north.  The humidity isn't much of an issue unless the barometric pressure drops below 30.  

All I'm pretty much able to do now is fishing.  I go as often as I can, sometimes not as long as I would like but as long as I can stand it.  I used to hunt all the time and now it is just to hard on me.  I don't saltwater fish, with my back I wouldn't go out in much more than a gentle swell anyway.  I don't speak spanish, have a good handgun, and know how to use it well.  Thanks for the input.

You could winter down around Zapata or Del Rio and hit Falcon and Amistad. Mild winter weather and great winter bass fishing. This is my dream winter hangout. Probably a little farther than 2 days from home though. Around me (DFW) you get below freezing from time to time but mostly mild, today hit around the upper 50's. The reports of double digit fish are really rolling in right now. Within a hour or two we have Fork and Ray Roberts, both produce alot of big fish, Texoma (smallies), a couple power plant lakes when it gets real cold (some even have big redfish), and a couple dozen other quality bass producing impoundments. We have a low cost of living, low crime rate, but traffic can be BAD. I love to vacation in Florida and think that might be a good choice for you. The nasty cold fronts usually peter out before they get that far. You could enjoy great bass fishing, peacock bass, inshore fish like snook/redfish/tarpon, and the list goes on. If you'd like more info on North Texas just ask and I'll hook you up. I could send you out some of those realty fliers they have around the lakes. BTW, thanks for your service to our country. I really appreciate your offer, before I make my choices I may hit you up for the info, I'm doing a lot of internet research right now.  As far as the price I paid for serving my country, I would re-enlist today even if I knew I would be injured again.  I do want everyone to know I was injured on the job, not combat wounded or anything like that.  Those guys are the real heros, I was doing my job and broke my back, never underestimate the power of heavy seas!!!!  

My job that particular day was a Search and Rescue Mission, in heavy seas.  Wrong time, wrong place, wrong angle; broke my back finished the mission and my career.  Just wasn't war time or a training exercise.
