Amistad and Falcon

Featured Replies

Another Soldier and I are planning a redeployment fishing trip. Our plan is to spend three or four days at both Amistad and Falcon Lakes. We should get a month or so of leave time when we return from Iraq and we will have a years worth of fishing to make up for. We should be home in early December and will probably try to make the trip in early January. Can anyone give us any advise on seasonal patterns, accommodations, Mexican fishing licenses? We have eight or nine months to plan and prepare for this and would appreciate any input. Thanks in advance, Steve.

Spawning should be in full swing in late January on Falcon.

You'll only need a Mexican fishig License if you fish on the Mexican side.

Will send you a pm on info.

There have been quite a few tournaments in the past few years on Amistad and Falcon.

FLW and BASS.     You might do a search for results to read the specifics.    Also ask around who might have those taped.

The all time 4 day total weight was set on Falcon last year by Paul Elias.   132+ on 20 fish.   I'd start there.

I will be happy to furnish my waypoints on Falcon when the time comes. As Matt said the spawn will be strong at that time. If the water is up, bring a hand saw. It will help you to reach areas that many will not attempt to fish. Just let me know.
