I would assume that there are smallies in this river, but are there largemouths?

There are black large mouth, spotted bass, and guadalipie bass all in the pecos river in texas

I have caught LM all the way to Iraan, Sheffield from Amistad on the Pecos.

   I can't say now, but when all the drilling stopped in the late 70's, the Pecos cleared up some, cleared up as in alot of the brine water that was being released into the river by truckers ceased and fishing got better because the river filtered out.   Mainly rough fish survived.

Been duck hunting on the Pecos since the 70's, great hunting.

   Also, 2- thirty year floods helped clean her up as well.
