Best Bass Lake In Minnesota?

Featured Replies

In your own opinion, what is the best bass lake in Minnesota? For me its Lake Minnetonka, but I might be a little bias. It does kick out 18 to 20 lbs for 5 fish all season long in the local tournaments. Pretty good for a northern lake that is frozen a portion of the year. Minnesota is often known for its Walleye and Muskie fishing, but there are some great bass fisheries around this state. Let me know what you think.

My old boss lives down on the southern edge and I almost headed over there this summer for a long weekend.  The sales president of the company was there a few times and told me of the good bass and musky fishing.  I have since changed jobs, but would still love to hit that thing next summer when I get more time.  Big praises from them two guys and a little research makes me think it would be a worth while trip.  He's down by Excelsior.

I used to fish the Chisago Chain a lot when I lived up in East Bethel, primarily Chisago and Green. Caught a lot of bass out of those lakes, generally fair quality fish. Being an old Ozarker it doesn't compare, but pretty good fishing all the same. 8lb. line and a 4" Slider worm on a Slider jig, you'll have a sore arm.

Coon Lake was good also, and 15 min. from the house.

Can't say these are the best lakes, but you WILL catch some nice bass.   ;)
