Possibly moving to Baton Rouge. Need advice.

Featured Replies

Are there some good places to fish in the Baton Rouge area? It really will make the decision to move or not easier.

By the way, to keep my current fishing experience in perspective, I live in KC, KS right now.

Louisiana's motto is Sportsmans' Paradise.  Within a two hour drive you have access to some of the greatest fresh-water and salt-water fishing on the planet.  If you are a hunter, duck, goose and deer hunting are easily within reach.

One caveat.  Be prepared for all manner of stinging and biting creatures and plants.

One of the places I fished while I lived on the East side of Baton Rouge (Baker), was to go to False River and then always as I got a chance was to go to the spillway and fish the interstate pilings up and down Interstate 10, and the area called Whiskey Bay.  Always produced good fishing.

I never made a cast in KS, but I think you will find LA and TX to offer considerable choices. There will be local differences and terms to learn, but you have that anywhere.

You don't have to worry about the snakes to much, the gators have eaten a lot of them.

An you get to eat mudbugs (crawfish), what more could you want.

Welcome and keep in touch.

Don't forget the heat & humidity that equals Panama or Africa!  ;D My brother still lives in BR and loves it.
