Featured Replies

Ive been hearing a lot of stuff about cataouatche, most of people gettin 2-3 6lb+ a trip. I hear much about what they catch, and little about how or where. I know the back right corner behind the break with the walls, where the grass gets too thick to fish in the summer is a great spot, but ive only been once and only know one spot. we threw cranks and flappn shads last year and caught a few early in the summer. any tips?

oh yeah, im headed out there sunday in search of at least a picture worthy bass, been catching nothing but under 2lbs so far this year...well bass at least, sacalet were runnin one day and i caught 5 almost 3lbs

SAINT ROMAIN I'M FROM ROBERT LA. AND FISH CATOUACHE REGULARLY. WE'VE FISHED ONE CLUB TOURNAMENT THERE ALREADY. THE MOUTH OF THE UMBRELLA CANAL IS A GOOD PLACE TO START. IT'S GATED SO YOU HAVE TO FISH AROUND THE MOUTH GO ABOUT 100 YARDS OUT AND A LITTLE NORTH THROW A R-TRAP AND A CRANK OR SPINNER BAIT. GO NORTHWEST FROM THERE AND YOU WILL SEE A WALL YOU CAN FISH ALL AROUND THIS. MANY GOOD FISH ARE CAUGHT AROUND THIS WALL. IF YOU SEE ANY BIRDS DIVING INTO THE WATER GET OVER THERE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE DON'T GO RIGHT INTO THE ACTION BUT GET AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE. AND THROW SOMETHING THAT RESEMBLES A SHAD AS THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE USUALLY FEEDING ON.ANY BIG PATCHS OF GRASS HOLD FISH THROW A FROG ON TOP OF THE GRASS OR A SPINNERBAIT AROUND THESE. BASS CAN BE ANYWHERE ON THIS LAKE BUT TRY THESE AREAS FIRST. IN BETWEEN LAKE CAT AND LAKE SALVADOR IS A CANAL CALLED THE GULF CANAL WITH MANY POINTS CANALS AND DEADENDS RIGHT NOW THERE WILL BE FISH SPAWNING IN THE DEAD ENDS CHECK THESE ALSO. THE LOUISIANA SPORTSMAN MAGAZINE HAD A GOOD ARTICLE LAST YEAR MAYBE YOU COULD CHECK THERE WEB SITE FOR THAT BACK ISSUE. IT HAD A LOT OF INFO ON THIS FISHERY. WE HAVE ANOTHER TOURNAMENT THERE ON THE 11TH OF APRIL SO I'LL BE SCOUTING THERE ON WEEKENDS TILL THEN. IF I CAN HELP ANY MORE JUST ASK. BY THE WAY OUR CLUB IS LOOKING FOR MEMBERS IF YOU ARE INTERESTED JUST ASK AND I'LL SEND YOU MORE INFO. WE FISH LOCAL WATERS LIKE LAKE C.,BAYOU BLACK, DESALLEMANDS, MANCHAC,AND SOMETIMES THE SPILLWAY HOPE THIS HELPS AND GOOD LUCK. BIGJOE
