I live in KC Metro (Olathe, KS) and I was hoping to make it out there within the next week or so. I was wondering if any local anglers had a bass report? At this point (based on Internet reports dating as far back as 2007), the list narrows to Bluestem, Catclaw, Gopher, Nell, and Plover Lakes. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I tend to have the most success out there by hitting the "backwoods" points with t-rigged plastics.  The shorelines closest to the parking lots tend to get beat to hell, so if you don't mind a trek, you should be able to catch a few.

I like to fish the southern lakes (Coot, Bluestem, Bodarc) because they offer plenty of cover, and you might check out Plover, working down the dam and around the corner to the two points.  Usually it gets overrun with algae by mid-summer, but I'd still give it a look. 

The only other advice I have is to watch the weather forecast.  If you go within a few days of a storm, expect the trails to resemble swamps.

I've had my best luck on Bodarc, Bluestem, and Catclaw. Like VoiceSayZool said, making a trek will be worth your while. If you have waders or don't mind getting your feet wet - do it. You can fish the shore line and the laydowns better from just inside the water line. T-Rigged plastics are a good choice always out there but I've caught them on just about everything. Make sure to hit all the visible wood. Good luck.

Everyone is pretty much right on the money on here.  I have had my best luck on Catclaw.  It has a nice combination of rock and wood, but it gets overrun with weeds pretty good the last couple years during summer.  I usually stick with t-rigged plastics and jigs, frogs and buzzfrogs when its weedy and a buzzbait when the conditions are right. 

I've pulled a lot of nice 5 - 7 lbers out of Catclaw the last couple of years.
