BPS in Owensboro, KY

Featured Replies

The local paper today reported that BPS is looking at developing here in Owensboro, KY.   :)

It looks like I won't have to go to far for my stuff anymore, and can stop paying the inflated shipping charges.  I wonder if that petition I signed awhile back had anything to do with it?  There were close to 3,000 signatures on it.

How do they determine this anyway?  I always thought it was by the number of hunting/fishing licenses in the area that were sold, but do they look at traffic studies as well?

Hey, that's cool!!!  I was just in Owensboro this weekend.

I spoke to the developer this morning, and he said they are looking at some new development property in the Gateway Commons area.  He said that the only downside of the deal is that BPS wants you to GIVE them the property.  Literally!!!

But the upside of the deal is that they would boost the property values around the area bringing in other businesses.  This would also include the value of homes.  He said homes that are developed within a 4 mile radius of BPS are automatically valued $20k higher on the next PVA report just as it would being built closer to an arena or stadium.

So, even though BPS hasn't released any official plans in the area we are definitely in their sites.  Development would begin early to mid 2009.

i sure hope we get one

i live in owensboro

the thing i dont get is why would BPS look at owensboro b4 a city like louisville or lexington

it seems lyk they would get more buisness if they were in a larger city

There are also not that many places to fish around here, :)

but i hope they choose owensboro as suitable location for a BPS

There is already one in the Louisville area but I would pefer one in the East part of the state but I am just a little based in this area. ::)

There are a whole lot of places to fish in Owensboro!  I could think of 3 or 4 places right off the top of my head that produce big fish within a 30 minute drive.   Public ponds aren't the way to go.

They have a BPS in Clarksville, IN which is 10 minutes from downtown Louisville.  Plus .... per capita we have the highest number of fishing/hunting licenses purchased for a 30 mile area in the state.  Think about Muhlenberg County!  Look at Uncle Lees down there in Greenville.  They gross $2.3 MILLION a year in fishing and hunting supplies alone, and that's one of the poorest counties in Western Kentucky!
