Portages Lakes in Akron Ohio?

Featured Replies

Anyone fish portage lakaes in Akron Ohio?  I have a tournament there this Sunday on Long Lake. I was able to get out Sunday but struck out.  Any tips will be greatly appreciated ;)

I fished from the bank there this past sunday for a few hours, Turkeyfoot I believe.  I am not familiar with the lake at all but was with my nephew and brother in law.  We ended up catching 2 small 7-9 " bass from the shore on small grubs on jigheads.  I talked with a few anglers in boats and they said it was tough all day with only one or two fish between them and they were around 11 inches.  They were fishing football jigs and a smithwick rogue suspending model.  Water temp was around 44 degress in a cove, and that was the warmest they could find.  Good luck, it is still very slow it seems but it may warm a little with this weeks 50 degree temps or so I hope.  Maybe we can hook up sometime, if you need a back of the boat fishing partner for a day out on the lake.  I'm always interested   ;)
