night fishing

Featured Replies

How early is to early to start night fishing in the Northeast. Will the bass still be up shallow and active during the night like they are later in the summer, or will the colder night push the bass back into deep water?

I usually start shortly after the spawn.  They say 60 degrees is the magic number (water temp) but during the spawn, they want nothing to do with anything that is not IN the nest.

So,....another month tops.

cool thanks, i just love getting out at night, but figured it was to cold right now

At night I always go with a T-rig too.  With the weight close to the bait I feel it gives you a better chance the fish will take the bait and not the weight.  This is the only thing I know to fish with at night and every time it has worked.  In fact my biggest fish (5 1/2lbs) was caught this way at night.  Be safe and good luck!   ;D

I spent a week at home in northeast pa, and have been fishing every day. I went for trout two days, and bass two days. The water temp is avg of 61. I have, and still do fish a lot at night. I think it is too cold yet. You will get them, but they arn't on like they should be. I would wait for a week or two of warm weather.

water temps in the mid 60s preferably and the weather.  Last year I was hammering the nights in late April.  Last year was very mild where I'm located (So. KY).  However this year has been quite cool.
