Don't steal my decoy.....

Featured Replies

Went to the Cape this mourning and fished a favorite pond of mine.I found a nice school of smallies off shore and marked the spot with my trusty duck decoy slash" marker bouy ". I moved on and was going to come back in a bit and fish it some more.As I was fishing down the bank I see another bass boat make his way towards the decoy,I figured he was going to fish the hump I marked. He wasn't looking to fish,he proceeded to grab the decoy and wrap it and put it in his boat and went over across the lake.I motored over to the bank he was fishing, up ahead of him and fished in his direction. When he got close to my boat "He asked,How you guy's doing? .I said terrible, why he replied .I said I hate it when somebody steals something that doesn't belong to them.He had no clue what I was talking about, and said good luck,I'm going to fish the other side of the lake. That's when I asked him for my decoy back, what decoy .I said the duck decoy you pulled out of the water that belongs to me.He said I didn't take your decoy and started up his motor,That's when I told him that It's gonna be hard for you to leave with 4 flat tires when you get back to the ramp.He tried to apologies and gave me my decoy back. Not only was this guy a thief but a liar.Moral of the story" If it doesn't belong to you, leave it alone.".....

Good for you!   Would have been priceless to see his face when he got back to the  ramp and tried to pull his boat out with 4 flats.

Good fishing.

Glad you got your decoy back :)

Actually, I've never thought of it but a duck decoy is kinda a cool idea for a marker buoy!

I gotta try it :(

Should have given him two flat tires after you got the decoy back.

Glad you got your decoy back but no offense I think he had every right to pick it up if your not hunting over your decoys and they are not tagged with your name and at least phone number its trash and should be picked up. Him lying about it was not the right thing to do that is for sure but being an avid duck/goose hunter if I see a duck decoy floating around this time of the year im going to assume someone lost it over the season and or had it fallen off someones boat during the season. I expect the same thing from anyone thats why I use a marker bouy with my name on it and not a decoy. Sorry I don't agree with your opinion on this one. Since well if its floating with no tag its really not yours, its trash.

By the way If the value of his tires is over 500.00 you would have commited a felony. I dont see a decoy being a justifiable trade for a permanent mark that will follow you for the rest of your life and if you do......Well I think I will just leave it there.

Here in mass we dont have to tag our decoys, but my initials were on it.I never told him it was marked. If he had said he thought someone had lost it and was just picking it up thinking it was trash, that's understandable. He straight out lied about taking it,and telling him about what would happen to his tires sure made him give it up.I would never slash the tires on someone's vehicle, especially over a decoy.I still agree that "IF IT DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU,LEAVE IT ALONE!

P.S.

See you out in the marsh ,I'll be the guy with the afro... :)
