Painting sinkers

Featured Replies

I bought some Tungsten weights at BPS's Spring Classic.  I bought the XPS brand - they were 33% off making them quite a bit cheaper than Tru-Tungsten.

Only problem is they aren't painted.  I've powder painted some lead weights in the past and that didn't work too well.  I've also read where some guys use fingernail polish.

Anybody got any suggestions?

What type of paint?  Do you put epoxy over it?

String several on a thin wire to hold them.  Get a can of Epoxy spray paint in your favorite color and spray away.  Can use the wire to hang them by while they dry.  Being stacked on the wire, the holes don't get all clogged.

Will spraypaint work on tungsten though?  I've got a few of those XPS weights.  Powder paint def. won't work (without melting the insert).

Tungsten is hard, spray paint chips off very easy.    I just did abunch of bullet weights last night with the powder coating.

spraying lead seems to work good, but don't look as good as powder coating.

I use the fingernail polish on the lead and tungsten with no problem.  I use a color first and then a clear.

A juicy magic marker or sharpie works for me.
