Black Lake NY

Anyone fish here?

My annual fishing trip with some buddies will be this weekend.

This will be my third trip to this lake in as many years.  I know it's pressured but I see some big fish still being pulled from it.  My friends and I haven't had much luck there yet though.  We've caught some nice Northerns and a few bass but the LM have mainly been elusive.  What are some of the favorite baits to use there?  Any particular spots that are really productive?  I'm going to try some night fishing with buzzbaits and chatterbaits this year off the dock at McLears.  Any info appreciated.

Well I guess nobody has heard of this place?

I went for a long bass season opening weekend and killed them all day long on senkos in thick weeds.  Spinnerbaits also pulled them in along with a few pike.  None were huge, but most were keepers at 16-18 inches.  My buddy landed a huge bowfin which destroyed the brand new buzzbait that I lent him.  We had no idea what it was until somebody told us later... scary looking fish for sure.

From Florida but family has a summer camp nearby to Black Lake.  Me and my buddies go for a week every summer and absolutely wear out the  bass up there.  Smallies on 3/8 ounce strike king bitsy bug jigs with a single tail grub trailer.  Also on Zoom lizards in watermelon seed.  Fish around the islands just across and uplake from McLears.  Anywhere there are rocks there are sure to be chunky smallies.  Largemouth on rattletraps, orange spinnerbaits, lizards.  Other awesome less pressured lakes around there for smallmouth are Stillwater Reservoir.  If you can make it there late May or early June you will usually have the entire lake to yourself.  Awesome, awesome smallmouth lake.  40 campsites around the lake and on islands also.  Highly recommend this lake for smallie addicts.  Lake Bonaparte near Harrisville is also a good lake for a mix of nice SMB & LMB.  Email me at dubtrooper91@yahoo.com if you have any questions.  I can list a ton of lakes up there that you would thought you died and gone to heaven.
