Pawcatuck River RI

Featured Replies

Has anyone fished the Pawcatuck River? I know it spans from Westerly to The Great Swamp management area and empties into Wordens Pond. There's a launch area in Ashway and was wondering if anyone has had any success on this river. I've been wanting to fish this for a while now and will be making it a point to do it this year. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks

WOW, never knew there was a ramp in Ashaway. I got to give it a shot this year.

you can also get in from Hundred acre i believe.

Are both ramps the car-topper type or can you get a trailer down?

You know the Crawdacious is always an option.  8-)

Yup and 4-wheel drive is a wonderful thing...lets put it on the "hit" list.

the only time i every go in i just take my canoe and paddle up or brave the rapids down to 30 acre either way its a car topper.

There are two rivers that empties into Wordens. One is a launching area off of 138 just before you get to URI (Taylors landing) that you can launch a car topper and the trek is a little over a mile to get to Wordens. I believe this is the one you guys are talking about.

The Pawcatuck River empties from the SW part of Wordens and streches all the way through the south county area and eventually runs into Pawcatuck CT. There is a stretch of this river you cross over on RT. 3 in Ashaway which looks looks absolutely awesome and a ramp for a car topper off 216 in Ashaway. I think this trip will require  a good paddle and 2 trolling motor batteries. :o Can't wait!
