CAPE CODMA?!?!?

Featured Replies

I've been living in MA now for about a year an a half and I was wondering when does freshwater fishing really start here?

the day the ice is out (about a month ago).  It only stops when the ice is too thin to walk on and too thick to break through :)

I don't ice fish...there is got to be a time when you can really BASS fish I guess I should have said that from the start.

I think the best fishing is mid April to end of May, but you can pretty much fish from boat or shore from when the ice melts until it freezes over again.  Ice fishing is another story.  They should be spawning at some point within the next month.  (hoping they're shallow this weekend)

I see your from Florida or were anyway. Must be some BIG bass down there? Anyway up here we all start fishing as soon as the lakes/ponds are ice free. You will catch them, But it is just slow as the water is still a bit chilly. Water was 51 where I was today in southern NH and I got a 2 pounder with a jig. I would say late May they will be more aggessive, But hey get out there and it a shot now. Good luck.

Fishing started for me in MA March 22 :)

Monday, Cape Cod
