I am heding up to Lake Umbagog this weekend for the first time this year. If anyone has fished it or other lakes up north I would appreciate any tips or advice.  Any info on lures, areas to fish, water temp, etc. would be great to point us in the right direction.  Thanks.

Sorry I can't help with specifics, but a buddy of mine was up there two weekends ago and he caught a ton of smallies.  He said quite a few of them were in the 3 pound range.  He did say that the bugs were terrible.
