In IL the first sat of april was our trout opener (a bunch of lakes get stocked with rainbow trout).  I couldn't make it on the opener but i was able to go this past sunday morning.  I heard that during the opener ppl caught 30-40 trout.....i didn't catch one this past sunday 

I tried using spoons, spinners, trout power bait and worms.

Any help?

If it's anything like new jersey, good luck catching a trout after opening day lol.  You won't catch anything until they re-stock.  I don't even attempt to go until they re-stock, because the streams are wiped out.

I caught a 22 inch rainbow and a 25 inch palomino after the opener. My cousin caught two 25 inch rainbows a little while ago as well. I also will catch 10-15 fish in the evening late in the season. You need to learn what streams will hold fish late season and where they won't.

i went the week after the opening and I saw maybe 5 fish get caught by other fisherman..

You know what the best thing is about the opening day of trout?

They'll be more guys on the trout streams instead of on the lake where I bass fish.
