i fish small ponds in jersey. The bite has been slow. Would x rap jerkbaits work.

I think something like that is impossible to predict. You need to try a bunch of different things, such as locations, depths, time of day, lure speed and a variety of lures.

Unfortunately, I'm all too familiar with small ponds and slow bites.

I know on some of the small ponds on Long Island, the frog bite was great the last 2 weeks. This week it switched to spinnerbaits. Jerkbaits could work, but its just something else to try. Unless your trying to learn a specific bait, bring a bunch of different ones and try them until something works. Just my .02.

If I had just one lure to try, it would be a GY senko. Sure, I might catch more on a jerkbait (btw, I love XRaps), but I know I'll catch some fish on a senko.

A slow bite calls for a slow presentation in my experience. So anything that can be worked slowly would be the ticket. Although I agee with Deep that senko would be my go-to bait in that situation.

X raps work great for smallies. The key is matching the color with the other types of minnows or shad in the pond. I can use a bright white x rap all day without a bite, but if I switch to my x rap that is white and olive... Bam! They kill it.

LC Pointer and Husky Jerk are options as well. The LC has a rattle and the HJ is just a nice slow perfect suspending JB.

I have every X-rap color as well. Olive, silver and black and perch are normally my best colors here. Bleeding Olive Flash works too although attracts more Pike than bass.

I've actually had the best luck on XR10... Now XR12 in Yellow Perch is an excellent lure for the toothy critters.
