Massachusetts Fishing Licenses

Strap your boots on folks, the Bay State has done it again! Starting next year (2012) ALL your license fees will be increased by $3.00. Why? Because the only way you will be able get any license, at all in this state, is by going online and doing the transaction there with a debit or credit card. And the wonderful State will charge you an EXTRA $3.00 for doing so!

This also applies to stamps & permits as well. No longer will you be able to buy an archery stamp or bear permit, without going online to do so - and a fee for doing so will be applied.

And we wonder why we are loosing population!

gotta luv this state .... go from a process that can accommodate the entire user base to a requirement for a computer, web access AND a credit card.  Then in the process charge $3 more....you got to be kidding ..... rather than making it an available option and if you choose to use it allow you to save a few bucks for the efficiencies.

Massachusetts = efficiencies = oxymoron.

I will continue to counterfeit my licenses per usual. :)

You mean somebody else does that...

Ohio is starting to go to online too, the small stores dont offer any more so you have to go to walmart if you dont want to go online or (like me) dont have a credit card. But i will not complain about the price, in ohio (and i think for all states) the money raised by the department of wildlife stays in the department. We have alot of conservation areas so i am always willing to through in my money to keep them running.

Welcome to Connecticut.

My license was only $16 this year, after my $12 credit was applied from the raise, and then subsequent drop, in license fees in 2010. And they made it sooo easy to do, too.  ::)

Ok do you actually think that Mass would actually make it easier for you? Hahaha! NH has close to the most expensive fishing license programs in the whole country. I buy a license for Mass as well and sadly the fishing licenses in NH for a resident is $35 for Mass out of state its $37.50. That kinda feels like a bargain at $37.50. Well with the depletion of public water and access. I may turn to the dark side and start to counterfeit my licenses as well, its only going to pay for their pensions and health-care anyways. I dont think either state does much in the way of caring for the LM Bass population.

Ok...but...Conn.out of state $55 and Vt.out of state $45 that's still a lot of money. I must say that it seems to this old man that Vermont is the best deal. Plus I'm a little biased by Champlain.

What if you don't have a credit card? This state is getting unbelievable.
