JCrzy4Bass Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 So I went out to Lake Ridge this morning despite all the off and on rain showers to see how this place was holding up. Wow is all I can say. The boat launch ramp is now completely out of water, all the jon boats that were once lined up at the boat dock, all on the dirt sandbar up front by the boat launch. The rez has to be down the most I've ever seen. I took some pics for those of you interested. The only place left to shore fish is the dock to the right of the boat launch which is still 100% in the water surprisingly because of how far out it goes. I fished there this morning and was lucky to catch two bass tossing some senkos over into a feeding frenzy. The first one I caught was a 2lb 3oz LMB on a purple senko worm rigged weightless and tex-posed. The second was a dink on a watermelon senko rigged the same way. Both were caught from just watching the bass tear up shad on the top water. Unfotunately I tried to get em' on a jitterbug and a Mann's shallow runner earlier in the morning but it didn't work. I though I was gonna get skunked but got lucky and caught both of the bass almost 30 minutes before I left for work. Here are the pics of Lake Ridge and the docks and ramps so you guys looking to launch can get an idea of how long it's gonna be before you can even attempt. Then the pics of the bass. First pic of the boat docks Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 Next Pic is the Launch Ramp which is suppossed to have water almost half way up it... now theres actually sand exposed at the end of the ramp AFTER the concrete drive: Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted October 24, 2007 Author Posted October 24, 2007 Here are the bass I caught from the fishing pier right of the boat launch ramp: The 2lb 3oz Bass The little guy Quote
rondef Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Nice LMB in the first picture Jay. I am surprised you caught anything there with the water that low. Quote
Triton9 Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 good fish, but if you think that is low, have you seen Chesdin , its terrible ! well since you live in northern va you probly havent Quote
SimonSays Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 nice fish J! my luck with normal senkos is horrible these days, I'm hooked on the swim ones though =D Quote
AnglerNFuego Posted October 25, 2007 Posted October 25, 2007 Nice fish Jay! I caught 2 dinks today at my local drainage pond. I had to go to the Black Fury 3 to get me out of my slump. Are you still on for Friday? Quote
Super User Dan: Posted October 25, 2007 Super User Posted October 25, 2007 Haven't fished there, but that is pretty extreme. The leaves are starting to look pretty, though Quote
JCrzy4Bass Posted October 25, 2007 Author Posted October 25, 2007 Triton, I haven't been to Chesdin, but the rez is crazy right now. My camera died as I went to the left of the boat dock, I was gonna take pics of the coves (two) to the left of it that have absolutely not a drop of water in them (at least before the rain yesterday and today). Andy, I'm still on for Friday but want to hit Bass Pro Shop in the morning in Anne Arrundel because I have 235 bucks worth of gift cards to spend and wanna pick up my new jig combo. You wanna come with? We can meet up somewhere and drive together. Call my cell and leave a message. Dan, Take Smoketown Rd all the way down past the intersection with Old Bridge Rd. Go straight and follow the road til' you get to the end of the first set of town homes (on your left). At the four way intersection make a left and follow it down to the Marina. There is a dock there to fish and if you have some heavy duty sneakers you can make your way around the shoreline there and fish rock walls, fallen timber and stumps. It's kind of like fountain heads shoreline at the boat launch ramp (when the water is this low). Later guys. Quote
