Bedding fish in dark water

Featured Replies

How do you guys find bedding fish in stained water?  I fish a lake with alot of cypress which makes for pretty tanic water.  Just wondering how you guys search for beds with low visability.

Polarized shades and dumb luck have accounted for all the bedding bass I've ever found, which ain't a lot.

Yeah that is about the exent of my sucess :-/

look for shallow water near banks and i have used this one alot, look for a grass bed/lily pads then look for a relatively large opening where there is scarce vegtation and there should be some bedders there. plus it helps to use a vertical presentation lure/style like a drop shot rig. throw close around too dont rule out water right in front of you because if  the waters stained then they cant see you so they can hit up close a lot more often.

alot of times in low visibility water i just fish where i think there should be beds. fish in darker water tend to pick up a bait better off a bed than fish in clearer water IMO.

Step 1.  Get your frog ready.

Step 2.  Get your boat in about 3' of water.

Step 3.  Make 5000 casts into 1-2' of water.

Step 4.  Chances are you drug that frog across a few beds.  I normally ask the fish I catch if they were on a bed or not.  I'm not sure how honest they are but most of them say no.
