Dale Hollow smallies in May

My Girlfriend and I as well as my sisters and there boyfriends, and a couple other people are renting a cabin at Dale Hollow in about a month.  Mainly to party on the lake, but I plan on fishing in the morning and afternoons.  We will be staying at the willow grove marina and I plan to fish nearby.  

Last year, I fished Iron's creek in the flooded timber with a few lmb on flukes and spinnerbaits.  I was told by these fisherman in the cabin nextdoor to fish Goat Island which is only like 500yds out of the marina for smallmouth.  So I did and did manage one smallie on a fluke.  This year I plan on fishing the same areas, but would like some advice on lures to use.  I will use the spinnerbait and flukes since i have confidence in them, but I was also thinking about using DT grubs for the smallies.  

Can anyone give me some other suggestions?  And I can't afford $300 for a guide either.
