Miami - Fishing for peacock from shore?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to fish for peacock from shore? I will be in Miami on May 16th and wanted to try my luck catching one. I have no problem getting a guide but the problem is I won't be to Miami until 12:30PM. If it's possible where can I fish from shore?

i have my best success for peacocks fishing from shore. you can absolutely crush them from shore. look for structure like rocks (especially rocks) irrigation pipes, drainage pipes etc. the hotter the temps the better. use a bait that you will not be angry if it gets destroyed, because a peacock will trash the hooks and damage the bait. i either use a rattle trap or a small rapala. fire tiger is good, but they will hit just about anything that is in front of them. good luck.

I am going to be in Miami too later this month.  Where are good locations to fish for peacock bass from shore?

Lard Bass,

Send me a PM before you come down and maybe I can take out to some spots.  I work from home so I can pretty much fish whenever I want on weekdays.

peacocks are everyhere in south florida. Just have to find a lake really. And fishing them from shore....they hit everything especailly when you see them in the shallows...i guess they are spawing?....but you throw anything close to them they will attack it with huge hits......even the small ones could snap your line if you arent careful. i have better luck with peacocks then i do with largemouth. But then again im an amatuer at this so  :)

I have fished and caught a lot of largemouth at the lake in front of Baptist Hospital before.  Has anyone ever caught peacock bass from that lake?
