St Johns River

Featured Replies

We hit the St Johns on Saturday am from the 44 ramp.  Headed north and fished some of the cuts off of the river had a couple of hits early on the frog and fluke.  Had a fish come completly out of the water for a frog but missed.  Switch over to the pointer and promptly caught a gar.  Continued fishing the pointer and almost lost it to a 12-15 lb gar.  Needless to say I put the $15 bait away after that one.  Bite was slow with a pickeral coming off of a spinnerbait.  I was just a mudfish away from the freshwater trash fish slam.  The bass bite picked up later in the day as some cloud cover moved in.  Picked up a few fish with the frog out of the pads and one on a jerkbait.  Ended up with 4 bass, with two more coming unbuttoned wrapped up in the pads.  Lots of boats out flipping the pads/mats.  Anyone been out there lately?
