caught my first 10+ pounder..

Recommended Posts

to bad it was a giagantor snapping turtle, d**n head was as big as my fist.  pulled it out of my neighborhood pond.  i've been fishing there over a year and never knew he was in there....i was flipping baby brush hogs along the bank and felt a tug, so i set the hook, nothing moved so i thought i was snagged i pulled and it moved so i thought it was a stick or something so i reeled it in and at about 5 feet away he made his appearance the shell was probably 3/4 the size of a man hole cover...hope he gets that hook out of his mouth =X

I've been fishing there since a youngin. Lived in that neighborhood for about 15 years until I recently moved down 28 a few miles. I've seen that snapping turtle out of the water. I think its still pretty young. Its big, but Im sure it will get a whole lot bigger.

I hate turtles so much  >:(  I live near the gulf and when fishing for reds and trout in brackish water we have hooked alligator snapping turtles that are well over 100 lbs.
